Operation Compliance Zero led to Senator Jaques Wagner being targeted by the Federal Police last week, changing how voters viewed the Master Bank case, but its effect on the image of the Lula government is minimal.

AtlasIntel’s research, published on Thursday, reveals that 74.3% of participants think Wagner has unfairly benefited from the financial institution, while 36.2% feel that this incident does not impact the government’s reputation.

The study, carried out in collaboration with Bloomberg from June 26 to 30, polled 4,999 participants and has a one percentage point margin of error at a 95% confidence level. The investigation was officially registered at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Responsibility is divided between PT and Bolsonaro.

Voters attribute responsibility for the Master Bank scheme in a balanced manner, with 37.6% pointing to Lula’s allies and 36% to the Bolsonaro group. 17.1% believe all groups are equally involved, while 6.1% primarily blame the Centrão.

The latest stage of Compliance Zero, involving Jaques Wagner, does not focus on Master Bank directly. Instead, it examines a suspicious financial transaction related to the senator through a different investigative approach. However, linking the PT party’s name to the case has strengthened the belief in the party’s connection to the scandal.

Lula’s influence was minimal.

37.8% of respondents believe that Wagner’s role in the case is solely the senator’s issue and does not directly impact the president. Meanwhile, 35.6% think the incident affects Lula directly, and 23.5% feel that the consequences are limited to some extent within the government.

39.6% believe the incident significantly damages the perception of Lula’s administration, while 17.5% think it slightly worsens. However, 36.2% feel the case has no impact on the government’s image, almost equal to the total of the first two groups.

36.3% of those surveyed believe that situations such as this should not hinder Lula’s chances of re-election.

Lula is leading in the presidential race.

AtlasIntel’s latest election poll indicates that Lula is leading the presidential race with 46.3% of the vote intentions in the first round, compared to Flávio Bolsonaro’s 36.6%. In the second round, Lula is projected to reach 48.8%, while Bolsonaro is at 42.3%.

The connection between Ciro Nogueira and Daniel Vorcaro before the June Genial Quaest survey indicated that the Master case would influence various political groups. The latest AtlasIntel analysis shows that the blame for the scheme is spread among the PT, Bolsonaro, and Centrão, with no specific group being solely targeted for criticism.
